Building a website requires both planning and preparation. There are a number of steps to complete and these are broken up into three stages after the initial deposit.
Providing the Content
Websites consist of content that can be searched for. It also consists of the items that make it look attractive. This includes logos, images, videos, virtual tours, photos, text, price lists, rates, privacy statements, terms and conditions, statements of booking and payment, refund and exchange, copyright statements (pdf and digital), product diagrams, A4 brochures (pdf and digital), links and URL descriptions, and maps. Styleguides for the font, colours and logo placement are useful.
As much as possible should be in digital format. There will extra charges to scan images, modify images in image graphics programs and type text content. Certain images, such as logos, should also be supplied with a transparent background. Tables should be in spreadsheet format. All digital format should be suitable to be read by a Windows PC, not an Apple one.
Now that you have a website
Of course, once your website is launched, it does not stop there. The website needs to be registered with Google and Bing for it to be found. It could be many months before search engines rank your website. You will want to know how successful your website is through reports about traffic patterns and sources, the conversion and transaction goals available from Google Analytics (emailed reports) and useful information from Awstats. A login name and password will be provided for your cPanel account and you will be shown how to access Awstats. Your website can also be promoted through social media.
